Our laying hens are still finding greens outside. I’ve watched them scratching leaves aside and pecking little succulent sprouts, even at this time of year. You can tell by the color of their yolks that they’re eating lots of greens. We let them outside in the late morning after their prime laying hours are done for the day. That encourages them to lay inside in their nests. These hens’ eggs are available and cost $5 a dozen. Like the meat birds, our hens eat organic feed.
